The Kanakuk Institute has recently become a dual-track program.  Students may choose to take the “Institute” path, which includes Biblical training and experience in practical ministry, or they may choose the Institute/JBU joint program, which involves the same teaching and internship, with additional classes and assignments from John Brown University professors.

INSTITUTE with JBU TRACK

It's true--you can begin to earn a Masters degree through the classes you'll be taking at the Institute.  It's a great deal, if your interested in a Masters of Arts in Ministry, as you'll be killing two birds with one stone, saving time and money!!! Here's how:

COMPONENT 1 of the DEGREE: Credits for the Institute itself

12 credits--The Kanakuk Institute course itself

Earn an 80% or above in your work at the Institute and JBU will count it as 12 credits.

COMPONENT 2 of the DEGREE: Credits for classes taken while at the Institute

9 credits--Everyone in the Institute will sit through one class in the fall as a sneak peak into the JBU program.  YOU decide whether or not to do the additional homework assignments and enroll in the program officially.  Then, in the spring, you will take 2 additional classes (6 hours) from the Ministry Core.

So you leave the Institute with 21 credits towards a 36 hour degree program!!!

COMPONENT 3 of the DEGREE:  Credits for classes taken after you leave

From here, you'll have 5 classes (15 hours) left to take at your pace and online.

What's more--there are three emphases which you can choose as a focus:

          Youth and Family Ministries

          Counseling (non-licensure)

          Leadership

This program is unique--no other school accepts our program as graduate credit and at no additional cost.  Save yourself a semester and $5000!

Application to and financial assistance for John Brown is completely independent of the Kanakuk Institute and must be handled directly through them.

INSTITUTE TRACK
Institute Track students will be focused on local Branson ministry.  They will be more available to work in area internships and at the Boys and Girls Club.  They may also help with special Kanakuk Kamps-related projects.  The Institute track is a great option for individuals seeking to dedicate a year to Biblical study and ministry training, but not necessarily seeking a Masters degree.

The Kanakuk Institute believes that training you in the Word of God coupled with practical ministry skills will truly prepare you for a lifetime of ministry.  As we have continued to grow and changed over the years we have added different areas of emphasis within this program.  Currently, we offer these three areas of emphasis:

Youth Ministry Emphasis

The youth ministry emphasis focuses on Junior High and High School aged kids in a church or para-church ministry setting.

Urban Ministry Emphasis

The urban track brings further classroom teaching with an emphasis on ministry in an Urban setting and is led by some of the most equipped leaders in the area of urban

ministry.

Children’s Ministry Emphasis

Children’s ministry is a fast-growing area that desires educated leaders to invest into the lives of our younger kids; this program focuses on the practical application of

children’s ministry.
