Save yourself time and money towards a Masters degree!!!
The Kanakuk Institute has more to offer than ever before. Now, while doing the program you can earn Masters credit hours from either John Brown University or Dallas Theological Seminary. Read on!!
INSTITUTE with JBU credit
It's true--you can begin to earn a Masters degree through the classes you'll be taking at the Institute. It's a great deal, if you're interested in a Masters of Arts in Ministry from JBU, as you'll be killing two birds with one stone, saving time and money!!! Here's how:
COMPONENT 1 of the DEGREE: Credits for the Institute itself
12 credits--The Kanakuk Institute course itself
Earn an 80% or above in your work at the Institute and JBU will count it as 12 credits.
COMPONENT 2 of the DEGREE: Credits for classes taken while at the Institute
12 credits--the Ministry Core
Take 2 classes in the fall (Christian Spirituality and Relationships) and 2 classes in the spring (Evangelism & Discipleship and Teaching).
The best part??? Our goal is to integrate these 2 programs as much as possible, so many Institute assignments overlap JBU anyway.
In April, you'll walk away with 24 hours of a 36 hour program completed. That's 2/3!!
COMPONENT 3 of the DEGREE: Credits for classes taken after you leave
From here, you'll have 4 classes (12 hours) left to take at your pace and online over the next 3 years. Finish your degree from wherever the Lord leads you to go post-Institute.
What's more--there are six emphases which you can choose as a focus:
Youth Ministries
Pastoral Counseling (non-licensure)
Leadership & Ethics
Ministry Leadership
Biblical Community Development
Higher Education
Application to and financial assistance for John Brown is completely independent of the Kanakuk Institute and must be handled directly through them.
INSTITUTE with DTS credit
With our new partnership with DTS, you can spend a year at the Institute, and if you choose to further your education later, a possible 12-28 hours of credit will transfer towards a seminary degree. (Exact number of transfer credits depends on specific degree you pursue). Contact their Registrar with questions.
Degree Options for Transfer Credit:
M.A./CE (Master of Arts in Christian Education)
- Youth Ministry track
- Parachurch Ministry track
Th.M. (Master of Theology)
- Educational Leadership track
- Parachurch Ministries track
- Interdisciplinary track

Application to Dallas Theological Seminary does not need to be completed prior to application or admission to the Institute. All application, financial aid, and transfer credit questions should be directed to Registration at DTS.
Institute students will be focused on local Branson ministry. We believe that training you in the Word of God, coupled with practical ministry skills, will truly prepare you for a lifetime of ministry. As we have continued to grow and change over the years, we have added different areas of emphasis within this program. Currently, we offer these two areas of internship:

Youth Ministry Emphasis
The youth ministry emphasis focuses on Junior High and High School aged kids in a church or para-church ministry setting. |

Children’s Ministry Emphasis
Children’s ministry is a fast-growing area that desires educated leaders to invest into the lives of our younger kids; this program focuses on the practical application of
children’s ministry. |
